I have always had very eclectic taste in music (the very first cassettes I remember listening to included Queen, Meat Loaf, Bryan Adams, Grand Funk Railroad, Van Halen, Night Ranger, Queen, and Earth, Wind and Fire). I listened to a lot of radio growing up, and as I got a little older, I started watching more and more music videos (back when MTV, MTV2, and Fuse played nothing but). I was captivated by them, and some of the more interesting ones led me to the discovery of artists such as Tool, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, Nirvana, Incubus, and countless more that really made up my generation of music. When I was about 13, I saw the video for "Scar Tissue" by Red Hot Chili Peppers. There was just something about that song and the video that accompanied it that really inspired me, and it was then that I decided that a life of music was one that I wanted to live.

When I first joined the GC fresh out of high school in 2006, my intent was to fully immerse myself in the culture of music. I had been playing guitar since I was 15, and was in choir from elementary school all the way up until senior year, so I felt becoming a part of something like this was a natural progression. I also knew that being more actively involved with a business that had a direct impact on the industry would only better my musicianship, and it has without a doubt. Over these past five years, I have met with and "talked shop" with so many walks of life. From beginners to the advanced, hobbyists to professionals, up-and-coming bands to composers for television and film, and just about everything in between. The wisdom imparted on me by both coworkers and customers is priceless, and I feel like I have found a sort of "home" amongst guitars. Thanks to these interactions, my library of appreciation for different genres and styles has also been irreversibly changed, and I am forever grateful for that.

It is my philosophy that any well-rounded musician should keep an open-mind, exercise humility, and of course be a good listener. Making these things common practice can help one refrain from passing judgment, which I feel only gets in the way of finding solutions and discovering new things. I try to convey these attributes in everything that I do, from my approach to music to the way I interact with people. Gaining insights and sharing music amongst players and non-players alike has become an integral part of who I am. I look forward to meeting you!
