I've been studying drumming since the age of ten, I feel it's important to read music so you can teach yourself, Books I've been working from lately: Stick Control, Advanced Funk Studies, Accents and Rebounds, Other practice tools: the closest metronome I can find, my RealFeel practice pad, Pandora Radio, There is a book out there by Victor Wooten called 'The Music Lesson', this is a must-read for any musician regardless of which instrument they play, highly recommended
I have a busy performance schedule, currently working with Dan Conrad, Big Mumbo Blues Band, The Working Spliffs, Karrie O'Neill, Cursive Wires, The Eddie Haskell Jazz Trio
My drumming/Music influences include Matt Chamberlain, Keith Carlock, Steve Jordan, Steve Gadd, Rick Marrotta, Jim Keltner, Prince, James Brown, DJ Shadow, Jim Chapin, George L, Stone, and many others
Currently listening to:, Critters Buggin, Trans Am, Massive Attack, Sean Wayland, Steve Earle, Floratone, Bill Withers, Elvis Costello, The Mighty Imperials, JJ Cale, the flaming groovies
My MI Retail career began in 1989 at Music World here in Spokane, Washington... that was a great music store! I learned a ton from Mark Morse and everyone else there. After relocating to Seattle in 1997, I was hired as part of the Grand Opening crew at the first Guitar Center in the Northwest and the 27th nationwide. I was part of the still legendary drum shop crew in Seattle. I spent 10 years in the Seattle/Portland markets. In 2007 I relocated to Chicago to train drum salespeople in 40 stores over a ten state region. Now I'm happy to be back in my hometown!
Along the way I've had the opportunity to do many things for GC, including sales, opening new stores nationwide, internal product training, developing training materials, designing displays, and much more. I've been to over 80 Guitar Centers across the country.
I've been to many factory trainings/tours including Roland, Drum Workshop, Zildjian, Sabian, Vic Firth, Vater, Evans/D'Addario, Remo, and Yamaha.
It continues to be a great ride... I love gear, people, and I'm here to help-
