Alex McCormick started playing guitar at the age of 14; playing music was all he ever wanted to do. In 1992 he graduated from the Guitar Institute of Technology (also known as Musician's Institute). Since then he has played with local bands, has backed several singer-songwriters, and played the Agoura Hills Bluegrass Festival.

With over 25 years of teaching experience, Alex teaches multiple instruments: Guitar, Bass Guitar, Banjo, Ukulele (Soprano, Tenor, Baritone), Mandolin, Piano, Harp, Recorder, and Tin Whistle.
