I recently celebrated 31 years in the music field. Although I love and instruct on many kinds of music, Jazz has been my main endeavor and I'm proud to note that I have been fortunate to be mentored and befriended by some of the Greats; most notably, my ten year relationship with late John Coltrane drummer Elvin Jones, where I served as drum tech and had a chance to see the world (1990-2004). Since then, I have been a performing and recording artist residing in Texas, the West Coast, and since 2006, Chicago. One of the joys of my career early on has been teaching and imparting any knowledge I may have to others. Not everyone gets to say that they love their job or what they do for a living, but I am one of those fortunate few who does, and this fact has given to my life, not only meaning, but tremendous humility. Music and the learning, teaching, and mastering of it within my limits has been and continues to be a kind of obsession, but I do find time to enjoy cooking and savoring a meal or walking my little dog around Lake Michigan.

    Connor Murray
    Distance: mi
Guitar Center Chicago 2633 N. Halsted St. Chicago, IL
Connor is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist with a primary focus in guitar and music theory. The time spent honing his craft has allowed him to cater lessons to the needs of each individual student, without spending countless hours turning wheels with no real progress. His experience with piano allows for him to apply core concepts of music to all instruments, and his time spent teaching has given him the tools to break down each student's struggles into simple and effective exercises that isolate weaknesses and turn them into strengths. Connor enjoys playing most genres, but draws inspiration first from indie/alternative bands, as well as old school blues/rock guitarists such as Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, and David Gilmour.

Hi! My name is Lucia and I have played the guitar since I was eight years old. I took lessons for four years but decided to stop because my teachers would always quit and I never had a stable teacher. I want be that teacher I never had, provide the best experience and stick around to see my student's success. I performed in a band with my family where we specialized in classic rock and alternative rock, but I love playing in multiple genres including metal, pop, folk, indie, and more. Music has always been a big part of my life, and I would love to be able to help others with their passion for music.

I have been with Guitar Center since 2025. I have been playing guitar for fifteen years. Music has always been a really big part of my life. My guitar teacher was like a mentor to me. He not only helped me develop as a guitar player and musician, but as a person. Lessons developed my grit, discipline, and delayed gratification. He inspired me to want to teach. In my earlier years of music, I competed in and won multiple classical guitar competitions. But as I got older, I realized that music isn't only about perfection and winning. Music is a deeply creative and person art that speaks to us in ways people can't. I have been songwriting and playing with bands ever since. My dream is to play, tour, and write with a band. I have found so much joy, inspiration, and freedom in music, and I'm excited to share it with my students.
