I have been playing for over 45 years mainly in gospel with a jazzy touch. I was formally trained on guitar at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois. I have traveled and played in the Midwest and California. I love teaching, and my students are equipped to read sheet music and play by ear. I teach the fundamentals from a classical style primarily, then the student can select what style/genre best suits them.

    Hello! My name is Joe. I have been playing music for over 15 years. My main instruments are guitar, drums, and bass, but I also play various other instruments to different degrees and levels. My main genre's that I lean toward are rock, both new and old, soft and heavy, but I love to play, learn, and teach in just about every genre. While I am mostly self taught, I have many years of teaching experience between private lessons, School of Rock, and Guitar Center. I am very knowledgeable is music theory as well as how to apply it, and I would describe my teaching style as very flexible. Every student learns differently from the next, and one of my strengths is being able to accommodate those different learning styles. I have played and recorded with both original and cover bands, so I am also experienced with songwriting and basic home recording techniques. I try to always maintain a positively reinforced learning environment, and being personable is important to me as I find students learn the best when in a comfortable, relaxed environment.
