After getting an electric guitar in junior high, Matthew switched over to bass in high school. Matthew was classically trained on upright while practicing on an electric bass at home. In college, Matthew studied music theory with Tom Hoekstra, father of guitarist Joel Hoekstra (Rock of Ages, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Whitesnake & Night Ranger) and received an associate's degree in recording and engineering. While always having a band going, it led Matthew to a teaching opportunity in 2000 and he's been teaching since. In 2014, Matthew wrapped up an acoustic duo called Violet Moon and left Chicago for New Orleans. Studying the local sound and playing bass in an 80's hair metal tribute while recording original instrumental music fills his free time.

At the age of 17 she recorded and co-produced her first single with the producer Andy Mendoza, mentored by her professor Jaime David Vasquez. After the hit of the pandemic in 2020, Beltrán began her studies with Berklee online. The artist decided to move to New Orleans in July of 2021 and take a break from school until the pandemic passed. Shortly after arriving, she joined the group ÌFÉ on vocals and minor percussion. With ÌFÉ she went on her first tour in the U.S.A. and recorded a live session for NPR’s World Café Live. In January of 2022, she took her studies back up at the University of New Orleans in which she is currently majoring in vocal jazz performance.
