I first found the drums when I was 13 years old, the first time I played them. Immediately, I had this feeling that playing drums was all I wanted to do. Since then, I’ve spent my time studying and learning the instrument, and falling more and more in love with it. Now, as an adult, I have the privilege of playing drums at Elevation Church, as well as recording drums for aspiring artists and musicians alike. I also play live shows with artists and bands. But one of the most fulfilling things in the world is being able to help others achieve their dreams of playing the drums at whatever capacity they see fit. Whether it’s playing in a school talent show, starting to play for a local church, or recording and performing live with artists.

    Nicholas Johnston

Guitar Center Charlotte 8813 J.W.Clay Blvd Suite A Charlotte, NC
You gotta have the courage to be bad at the start, because later…you won’t be. That’s the simple yet encouraging advice Nick received when he first began to learn the art of playing guitar. And because he was brave enough to follow that bit of insight, Nick is now fluent in the language of acoustic and electric guitar, bass, as well as drums. At the very beginning of his music journey nearly 18 years ago, Nick was drawn to play guitar simply because he really wanted to perform the theme song from the Halo 2 video game, which, to him, had a dynamic flow. From that point, Nick’s appreciation for self-expression through music continued to blossom. He has since explored various genres of music, learning in the process that playing instruments allows an artist to communicate in ways that words sometimes don’t get across. As an instructor at Guitar Center, Nick looks forward to inspiring his students to find some of the really beautiful gifts that playing music can bring.
