I first picked up Guitar when I was 12 years old and never looked back. Along the way, I started picking up Bass, Piano, Harmonica, and Percussion as side instruments and eventually added mandolin and banjo into the mix; though Guitar still remains my primary instrument. I first started being self-taught with music until I went to college and started taking private lessons and classes. From there, I learned classical theory, jazz theory, recording audio, and participated in jazz/rock ensembles. I graduated in 2018 from SUNY Oswego with a Bachelor's in Audio Design and Production. Since my first year in college, I started giving private lessons to friends and beginners who showed an interest in learning how to play. I have also been a performing artist since I was 17 and continue to do so either solo or with bands and projects. I am also an avid singer-songwriter and have been writing my own music since I was 13. I released my first album at 20 years old and have been releasing new music since then under my own name and bands I've been a part of. I'm always searching to learn more along the way and to keep myself involved in the music community.

Patrick McGinn-Hammer is an award-winning pianist, guitarist, bassist, composer and songwriter who recently graduated summa cum laude from Hobart and William Smith Colleges. He has produced hundreds of tracks over the past five years —both his own original work and as collaborations with other artists. Patrick’s teaching philosophy emphasizes understanding over rote rehearsal. By incorporating improvisation and creative exploration, he helps students not only learn music, but come to love what they play—an approach he believes is too often overlooked in recent American pedagogy.
