Melissa Jean Filanc considers herself to be a lifelong student of music. She started tinkering on the piano as a child, and picked up guitar and bass in high school. She has been in various punk and metal bands, and joined a church band as a young adult. During her time in the church, she studied bass, drums, and piano with world-class professionals for roughly eight years. She started performing in musical theater in her mid-twenties and studied voice and theatre with various companies for five years. After taking some time off when her child was born, she decided to go back to college to attain her Bachelors Degree in Vocal Performance, which she is currently working on. Josh began playing guitar when he was 15 years old, and it quickly became an obsession. Before long, he began forming in his own group and crafting original music. After high school, Josh studied music theory at Portland State University, and eventually moved on to study guitar performance at Musicians Institute in Hollywood. Josh played in various bands, of various rock music formats, released many albums, and toured briefly. He's the chief songwriter/guitarist/vocalist in progressive rock/metal group, Alizarin. Brian is a musician and educator with over seventeen years playing music and five years teaching experience. Brian played music casually for many years, but began seriously dedicating himself to studying guitar during his undergrad at UCLA (B.A. Philosophy). After several years of private lessons, Brian had a great foundation on which to continue his creative journey and write his own music. Since moving to Portland in 2016, Brian has returned to school twice to further pursue his musical passions -- first with an Associates in Music & Sonic arts from PCC, and currently working on a B.A. in Music through Portland State. Brian actively performs rock, blues, punk, and metal along the west coast. His lessons tend to focus on the fundamentals.
