Dave is a classically trained musician and bassist with a strong desire to pass his knowledge on to aspiring bassists. He began playing bass in his early teens and quickly developed a love for the instrument while playing a wide range of genres in classic rock and blues bands, and with worship groups. Growing up in Mississippi, near Memphis, and living in Chicago provided him with a strong background in Delta and Chicago Blues, and Memphis R&B genres. While working on his undergraduate degree at the University of Southern Mississippi, he completed courses in music theory, composition, piano proficiency, and double bass. In June 2023, he completed Dave Smith’s Deep Groove Workshop. Dave Smith is best known for his work with Robert Plant (Les Zeppelin) and the Sensational Space Shifters, Fofoulah, and Afro-Blues group Juju.

Robyn has been immersed in musical culture her entire life. Playing the family’s baby grand piano from an early age, she discovered the guitar at age 8. Since then, she has taken great lengths to learn about how sounds are made, and why some are more pleasing than others. Studying music theory at Wando High School, along with being in the jazz band allowed Robyn to see perspectives outside her own as being self-taught and learning basic music theory from her parents had left her with a DIY ethos. Studying at Wando allowed her to begin to see music as a professional rather than a purely recreational endeavor.
