    William Downes
    Distance: mi
Guitar Center Knoxville 8917 Town and Country Circle Knoxville, TN
Welcome. My name is William J. Downes. You can call me Bill. I have had a love for music, since I could remember. It started with my love for singing. My love of music grew and I wanted to play bass guitar. I begged my father for a bass guitar. I had two weeks of guitar lessons. To say the least, playing the guitar wasn't fulfilling my passion for music. It didn't quite fit my heart like singing did. Before the internet we had something called the yellow pages. I found an ad that said “learn before you buy” “drum lessons by James Stavris”. For 6 years, I learned the art of drumming. James taught me all the techniques and styles of drumming. After high school, I went to The Hartford Conservatory of Music, where I continued my learning of music theory and music history. Shortly after that I started teaching my own students. I continued to hold myself to James' teachings; as I did then and still do now. He always said, you will learn all that you need to know to become a great drummer by embracing all mixes and genres of music. It will be an honor to teach again. Together we will find your sound, make goals, lesson plans and find passion in music through drumming. I will promise to pass down my years of wisdom and technical talent to any student, young or old who wishes to find their musical passion. If you want to learn before you buy any drum set, if you wish to become a true artist at drumming, then I'm Bill Downes and I'm down to teach you.
