Guitar Center Katy 24429 Katy Freeway Katy, TX
Drum instructor, Mike Lundy, has dedicated decades of his life to the art of music. After years developing his talent, he became a professional musician, hitting the rock scene of his hometown of Houston, Texas, throughout the 90s. By 1996, his band was signed to a major label, touring semi national circuits and sharing the stage with dozens of established bands at that time. In the early 2000s, he graduated, twice with Top Honors, from the Art Institute of Houston to own and operate a multimedia-web-graphic design company for ten years ... only to return to music as a performer; and eventually turning his focus over the last 10 years (exclusively) to music instruction. To Mike, it’s more than just reciting notes on a page. His approach to teaching encourages students to challenge their understanding beyond the book and create their own style(s); applying a variety of curriculum and methods that incorporate the students individual learning style & skill level, influences & interests, strengths as well as weakness - in a fun, interactive process; designed to flex coordination, control and creativity.

I have been a student of music for 14 years. Guitar is my main instrument to teach, however I’m able to teach beginner Keyboard. My musical influences come mainly come from the rock and indie scenes. When taking lessons from me, you can expect to learn songs, chords, scales, composition, and solos. I am a former student composer who has gotten my pieces performed at both concerts and showcases. The most important thing for me as an instructor is to make sure each student gets what they want out of each lesson, while simultaneously improving their skillset and musicality.

I've been playing musical instruments and performing for about 13 years. I was classically taught to play the violin, and as I grew for the love of music, I taught myself bass, guitar and keys. I then went on to playing in the Lone Star College's Jazz Ensemble on bass, and their orchestra on violin. Since then, I've been teaching strings and keyboard for almost 3 years.. I teach all skill levels and genres but specialize in rock and jazz. My philosophy is I approach music not only sonically but visually and emotionally.

I have loved music since my childhood, and started pursuing my musical education in the 5th grade. Since then I have learned numerous instruments, and developed my passion for the guitar. I have wide ranging musical influences from classical, rock, and modern praise and worship (but I still love a good old hymn as well). I seek to tailor my instruction to the individual to increase interest and personal investment. My lessons will teach students how to play chords, scales and songs. In addition, students will gain a meaningful understanding of music theory which will serve them well as they increase their musical knowledge. I am excited to see students grow and reach their personal goals.
