    I have played music for my entire adult life. My first band was formed in High School and we were terrible, but we had fun. I went on to play, record, and produce music for artists and film/tv while living in Los Angeles. I have toured and recorded on a variety of projects ranging from funk to sludge and love playing all kinds of music. My passion is writing songs. I write as often as possible and enjoy finding new ways to express myself on the instruments I play. I love to teach as well. I have had some of my most fulfilling moments watching students gain access to improved versions of themselves, and I love being a part of their journey towards better.

    Patrick has been making music for well over a decade now. Starting in the school band on percussion and branching out into guitar, singing, composition and many of the school band instruments as the years progressed.     Music has been an enormous part of my life since the age of 4, when I first started annoying my sister by learning all the same piano songs she would take home from lessons. It wouldn’t be long until my whole week was filled with music, learning piano, drums, guitar, bass, and whatever else I could get my hands on.     Hello! Thanks for checking out my bio! I’m a lifelong musician from Portland, OR. For the past five years I’ve been up in Bellingham pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, skiing the Cascades, mountain biking, climbing, and more. To give an idea of my background, as a kid my family and I would camp out every summer and play bluegrass music with our old-timey pickin’ friends. My grandfather was an accomplished double bass player, he and my grandmother played in many bands together. My dad is also a talented guitarist, so I grew up surrounded by music. I’ve been lucky to be part of several bands in the groovy Bellingham indie rock scene, including singing and playing with Madrona (now Madrona Ave) and my current band, Spanky & the Bears. I also record music with my sister and under my solo project, Jalen Haynes. Looking forward to making music with you!

    I started picking up guitar when I was 13 after a complicated experience with serious illness, music offered me a way to process all of those difficult feelings in a positive and uplifting way. Growing up in a house where my dad would play loud classic rock every day, I quickly fell in love with playing along with classic rock and blues players like Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page. After years of being self-taught I started studying jazz throughout college and expanded my playing toward a wider variety of styles. As a performing musician I've played with rock groups, jazz combos, big band jazz orchestras, and most recently have been playing with a local funk and soul band North Sound Soul. In addition to my experience with music, I've also worked in youth development most of my adult life working to foster positive learning experiences for children. In this, I've been very privileged to work with people of all ages and am passionate about helping individuals learn and grow in new and exciting ways.
