Hi my name is Corey Bowen, I graduted from Jacksonville State Univeristy with a Bachelor of Music Degree. I have performed 14 years in jazz bands and esmbles, show bands, gigs, and big bands in college. I have been teaching professionally for 6 years now, but tuaght a lot of people in high school and college, I play a wide range of instruments: guitar, bass, uklele, and mandolin. I also can teach vocal lessons. My performace specialiteis are in most styles but I particulary like Jass, Classical Guiar, Blues, Rock, Funk, Reggae, and R&B. Some musicians that influences me are Jimi Henderix, SRV, Terry Kath, Frank Zappa, Stevie Wonder, Wes Montgomery, George Benson, Joe Pass, Pat Metheny, Jaco Pastorious, and Victor Wooten. Just to name a few. I love to play music because it encasulates everything (science, history, psychology, math, religion, culture, ect) Music can bring people togehter. I love hearing people say they can't do something, so I can show them that they can. I love the engagement that I can recieve from students; the moment of realization that they can play music, the lightbuld going off and the wheels beginning to turn. I am able to teach all levels and understand that each student has goals and dreams.

I grew up listening to blues and rock music. I started playing guitar around 12 years old. I dabbled but began to take it seriously after high school. I bought my first acoustic and became obsessed with finger picking. I decided to transfer to a school with a music program. I took time off, saved up, and transferred to the University of Montevallo. I graduated with a BA focusing on classical guitar. While attending UM, I performed in the UM Concert Choir which was regarded as the university's premiere ensemble. We toured Europe and Northeast United States, with notable performances at Notre Dame Cathedral and Carnegie Hall. I've performed at weddings, among other places. I have now been teaching music for a over a year. My influences consists of ZZ Top, The Beatles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Rolling Stones, and Andres Segovia. My hobby outside of music is fishing. I love the outdoors. Music runs in my family. I also love to travel and know a million useless facts about bands that I'm into.
