Music is the soundtrack to my life. It's in everything I do. The way I walk, talk, eat, sleep. I am a creator, arranger, composer, instrumentalist, teacher, producer, songwriter, recording artist and a recording engineer. The genre of music I primarily focus on is Hip Hop, R+B, Gospel, Pop and Rock. I hold a Bachelors of Arts In Music Industry from South Carolina State University. As a teacher I have directed Marching, Symphonic and Jazz bands. I have also directed choirs as well. As a working musician I have played and performed in many venues while producing albums, consulting upcoming artist, producers and studio owners . With my working experience and formal training as music educator I am able to help my student excel at whatever they want to be. All they need to do is show up.

    Peter Dixon

Guitar Center Alexandria 3155 Duke St. Alexandria, VA
Peter Dixon resides in Falls Church and teaches electric, acoustic, and bass guitar at our Alexandria, VA location. Having performed live with various bands for over forty years, Pete’s diverse playing styles and deep musical knowledge have provided his dozens of students with the foundations needed to continue their own musical journeys. Teaching students at any skill level, his focus is twofold: to become a better player through application of technique (left and right hand stuff) and to become a better musician through the understanding of the fundamentals of music theory (making music). Students that have some basic to intermediate knowledge and abilities can benefit most from his instruction, particularly those that feel “stuck” or simply want to find the door to that next level. “The first time I heard the opening riff of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Whole ‘Lotta Love’, I knew I wanted to be a guitar player. Although there are countless incredible players today, the talents of the guitarists of that generation persist. The thrill of learning a new riff is unmatched and it’s personally rewarding helping others to experience the same”. Pete loves teaching Blues, Jazz/Blues, Classic Rock, Metal, and Country styles with a focus on pentatonic scales, modes of the major scale, riff writing and left/right hand technique.
