He grew up playing music with his father; who was the leader of his band and worship groups for over 50 years and is still admired by all who had the grace of hearing him sing and play. Todd plays guitar, bass guitar and some piano. He was 1st chair bass guitar in the Wood River High School band and orchestra program, has been in many bands since, and engineered many projects over the years. He can sight read bass and treble clef, as well as tab. He has taken several music theory courses; he learned the fundamentals of classical, and pop music. Todd knows how important the right vibe is when learning; it’s imperative for the student to connect in a way that helps them focus, and relax. Being in the right mindset is as important as practice, because it motivates us to perform better. He knows there is a balance between fun and discipline. Knowing when to use either approach will bring vastly different performances. This usually brings forth a constant rotation of ideas with structure to rely on when called upon.
