Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Joshua received his Bachelor of Arts jointly in Music Composition and Biblical Studies from the Moody Bible Institute of Chicago in 2012. In 2014 he began his private practice in Chicago to educate and enrich people with a love and appreciation of music. Jake Levy is a professional drummer, recording engineer, and composer based in Nashville, TN, with more than 15 years of experience performing, touring, and recording. Travis graduated the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 2015 with a B.M. in Studio Music and Jazz. His live performing career began much earlier; at the age of ten with his family band. With over 30 years experience as a private instructor, recording and touring musician, Travis brings a unique and real world perspective to the instruction he gives on many instruments. Jack is originally from a small farm in upstate NY, near Lake Ontario, where he started playing guitar at about age 16. He had always loved the blues greats and hoped to play like Stevie Ray and Jimi Hendrix. Jack attended Finger Lakes Community College out of high school as a dual major in Audio Engineering and Music Science, and he earned two associates degress. He went on to teach music in a small record and repair shop called Area Records and Music in Geneva, NY. After playing around the area with half a dozen groups and teaching for about 5 years, Jack decided to enroll in Belmont University's Guitar Performance program so he could continue to teach at a higher level. He graduated Belmont in May of 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance. Kyle Jones has devoted much of his life to the study of ethnic percussion instruments, and to the underlying cultures and languages of their origins. He has studied with the world's foremost experts on many different types of drums, learning from Indian tabla masters Arup Chatterjee, Alone Dutta, David Courtney, Jerry Leake; on Ghatam, Kanjira and Mridangam: Drs. Ghatam Suresh, TK Prasad, Dr Mahadevan, etc. Western phenoms such as Elvin Jones, Vinnie Colaiuta, Terry Bozzio, etc just to name a few. Each instructor customizes lessons to ensure you are learning what you like and having fun. Your instructor will start you slowly, introducing new concepts each week, plus give you exercises or easy songs to play to keep you learning at home.
Learning an instrument is an enriching and rewarding experience that creates lifelong benefits, including increased self-esteem and the boosting of memory. Additionally, benefits for school-age individuals can include improved coordination, the expanding of social skills, and higher scores in math, reading and language.
30-minute lessons allow young or beginner students to learn the basics of the instrument and start playing songs. 60-minute lessons are ideal for more advanced students looking to progress faster and focus on the finer points of technique.
This varies by age and the type of goals the student has set out to achieve. However, most new students usually spend 15–30 min. practicing daily, while advanced students can practice for an hour or more each day in between lessons.
Our flexible curriculum allows students of all skill levels to experience growth. We help create a foundational understanding of music theory through the style of music you want to play. Our instructors will work to understand your goals and passions, and make sure you are on the path to learning what you want at your own speed.
