I’ve been fortunate enough to sustain a 30+ year career as a performer and educator. Having worked with a diverse group of artists/bands including Tammy Fletcher & the Disciples, Grace Potter, Dude of Life, Michelle Shocked, the Shed Band, and Vorcza among others provided important insights that continue to inform my teaching. I have taught thousands of guitar lessons across many styles including folk, blues, jazz, rock, fingerstyle, classical, funk, country, and reggae, having served on the adjunct music faculty for the Vermont State Colleges since 1999 and as the guitar instructor at Harwood High/Middle School in Moretown, VT since 2016. I enjoy teaching all ages, levels, and abilities. I tailor my lessons to the needs/desires of each student which can often include learning songs, developing lead and rhythm approaches, songwriting, and applying theoretical concepts to the fretboard. Above all, I strive to make the process fun. My goal as an educator is to nurture my student’s inner voice while providing the tools to make learning music an enjoyable, lifelong endeavor. I hold a Master of Music Education degree (MM.Ed) from Castleton University, a Master Certificate in Arranging from the Berklee College of Music, a Certificate in Guitar from the Grove School of Music, and a B.A. from Colby College. I studied at Guitar Craft Seminars under the direction of Robert Fripp and the California Guitar Trio from 1995-2000.
