The mighty Detroit location was opened in 1994. It was the first Guitar Center in Michigan and it quickly became an integral part of the Detroit music scene. Since It's move to the larger Gratiot & Masonic location in 2004 we have been bringing the best gear available to musicians all over the Metro Detroit area and beyond.

Our crew boasts a collective seniority of 105 years of experience. People like Joe Iloff our GC Tech that know the ins and outs of Mesa/Boogie, has toured the Marshall factory, Has met and spent time with Paul Reed Smith at PRS guitars, and has an encyclopedia of knowledge about vintage guitars and amps. People like Chuck Miller in Pro Audio that owned one of the first MIDI studios in Detroit and has continued his passion for recording right into the modern word of digital software recording, as well as his vast knowledge of all things keyboards, microphones and live sound. People like Josh Raynard who was actually a product specialist in Drums for Guitar Center and is committed to helping customers find exactly what they need to achieve their musical goals. And then there are all the crew members that live, work and play music in this great community.

This store has also been involved in equipping churches, studios, restaurants, and clubs with great gear since it's opening. It has also been involved with supplying gear for big events like the Thanksgiving Day Parade, The Detroit Fireworks and the Detroit Electronic Music Festival/Movement. More recently we have been working with local charities in the community to raise money and awareness for Autism and Multiple Sclerosis with benefit shows put on by the crew members and their bands.

Not only do we carry close to 700 guitars in stock at any given moment but in addition, we have Guitar Amps, Drums, Percussion, Cymbals, Bongo's, Conga's, Latin Percussion, Keyboards, Digital Pianos, Synthesizers, Workstations, DJ Equipment, CD players, DJ Software & Controllers, Recording gear, Interfaces, DAW Software, Soft Synths, Microphones, Powered Speakers, Studio Monitors, Wireless Mics, Karaoke, Pro Audio, PA systems, Guitar Effects Pedals, Strings, Picks, Drum sticks, Drum heads, Cables, Music Stands, Mic & Guitar Stands. We also carry a vast array of used equipment and if we don't stock an item don't hesitate to ask us because we have access to the inventory of our 220+ locations in addition to our central warehouse. If they have it in stock it will generally take 3-5 business day to get it and we can ship to your house or to the store which ever is more convenient for you. We can now order band & orchestra instruments as well including violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, French horn, bassoon, tuba, trombone, trumpet, orchestral drums, percussion, & timpani. We also have access to the accessories for the instruments such as reeds, mouthpieces, valve oil, and bows.
