Allen Daniel Rivera

Guitar Center Concord 1280 Willow Pass Rd Suite A Concord, CA
Allen has been an aspiring musician since the age of 5. He has been raised musically through the classical and marching band settings from 4th grade to his senior year of high school. He is grateful to have the musical literacy that allowed me to secure a spot in the top drum and bugle corps in the entire world, Concord Blue Devils at the young age of 17, a rare feat. Allen has multiple gold medals and accolades from his time as a professional marching musician. His experience as a captain and leader has served him well in the musical realm. After soaking it up and living the life of a marching musician that travels all over the world, he decided to retire from that robust lifestyle and continue his education with the end goal of receiving his DMA in Percussion Performance. He received his bachelor's from Sonoma State University, where he was a leader as principal percussionist and equipment manager. Allen's first teaching gig was at the age of 15 where he led 15 middle schoolers to win the NCBA gold medal in 2007 and 2008. His first paid gig was at American Canyon High School when he was 17 and senior in high school at Jesse Bethel High School in Vallejo. Since then, he has taught at numerous marching band programs and kept musical literacy, not medals, at the forefront of his curriculum. Allen strives to incorporate the athletic coaching he received from his days in professional drum corps settings, so that his students may learn proper form and manage their posture while learning their instrument. The teachers and musical mentors that have molded Allen into the musician he is today include, Stephanie Webster, Jack Mizutani, Jim Wunderlich, Tiffany Castelan, Dr. Jonathan Nathan, Ken Bergmann, Brian Simpson, Galen Lemmon, Chris Carrasco, Steve Travao, Jennifer Wilsey, and more. While percussion is his main instrument, Allen received instruction on guitar and piano. He also enjoys playing ukulele. Clarinet was the instrument that he played from 4th-12th grade, alongside percussion and drum-set. Allen is the perfect teacher for you if you believe in having fun while becoming musically literate with sheet music and music theory along the way. He believes that every single student has their own needs and learning style. He meets you where you are in your musical journey and guides you to your dreams and goals with a gentle, encouraging mindset.

My name is Peter (P-Money) Morley. I am most proud of successfully raising my two boys and two girls. I designed a degree in Communication Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, 1990. I have privately taught guitar for three decades bringing individuals and bands to the stage. I love classic rock! Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Beatles, CCR, The Grateful Dead and Stevie Ray Vaughan are my teachers. After 8 years of taking private classical piano lessons I learned music theory, but the passion for music begin in high school, when I took apart guitar solos on my record player which could play half speed. In addition to originals I have been playing classic rock and acoustic rock, Texas blues, Olde Tyme and bluegrass in private performance and professionally. I love how music is mathematical, physical, spiritual and fun for all ages and levels!!

I started playing guitar and piano at age five. I took piano lessons in early childhood, and developed a love for "improvising" during my early years of studying piano. In college, I sang bass in the Celestial Sacred Harp Singers, and returned to studying piano and music theory. I also played in a rock band called Burnham Wood. While in graduate school, I played the guitar with an Irish band called Ten Penny Bit. I developed a love for the finger-style playing of Alex DeGrassi, and started playing acoustic guitar in alternative tunings. I have since played with several bands on the guitar, mandolin and bass, including The Roadkill Ramblers, The Diablo Rhythm Wranglers, Durt Cheap, Burl Jam, and Quattro. My YouTube videos of "Americana" music in various styles have received tens of thousands of views. I have integrated music instruction into Early Childhood Education programs for over 25 years, and have been teaching music one-on-one to children for over ten years.

I was inspired to learn the drums after watching Ringo Starr and Buddy Rich perform on TV in 1968. I bought my first Ludwig kit with money I earned from my paper route and helping neighbors. My first teacher was a multi instrumentalist who performed worldwide in a major orchestra. I studied formally, practiced drums and Kenpo Karate daily, played two sports, and performed in my schools Jazz and Symphonic bands from 4th-11th grade. Our College Park HS jazz band won multiple CMA awards at competitions and the band leader was also a renowned teacher and Trumpeter. Several band members became professional players. While serving in the Army, I was able to play occasionally at on base music studios, and upon exiting the service in 1986, I grew my hair long again, practiced some hot chops, and placed ads in BAM magazine as a drummer for hire. I was attending college 2 nights per week (finally finished my BS and PhD after twelve years!), working full time in prison/corrections Officer (and later the mental health field), and playing 2-3 nights a week as a sub and member of various groups and musicians circles in the bay area. I was a "work-aholic" drummer playing with LOTS of cool musicians! BAM opened the doors for me and I connected and performed with the 1987 Bammie award winning band "Chris Loiter & the Hangouts", Atlantic records artist Baxter Robertson (lots of well known songs/karate kid movie), Josh Fogerty (Johns son) blues band, Legendary Berkeley band "Buffalo Roam", Sam Goody record company award winning band "The Heavy Petting Zoo" (2 CDs, radio, TV appearences), the "Delta Dogs" (2 CDs) famous bay area blues rock band founded by Dennis Erokan (BAM magazine) with guitarist Johnny Erokan. I have been a band member of popular working dance cover bands the "UpBeats" and "Cover2Cover" and have performed with famous singer songwriters "Jewel", Kevin Beadles, Jeffery Marshall, former Santana rhythm guitarist and "RaveUps" leader Chris Solberg, "EarthQuake" guitarist Robbie Dunbar, Rick Ramos and Juan Escovedo (GTS/ Latin Soul Project), Blues society award winning singer Tommy Nunnley, Rick Kellog / Rick McCrackin and members of the famous Elvin Bishop band, worked with members of Malo and Barry Manilows bassist, my R&B band "the Rhythm Method" and many other not so famous but great musicians ! I am the founder of the Contra Costa Regional medical center health and healing annual concert, and my Delta Dogs band and I Co-founded and started the Pleasant Hill summer concert series by the lake, the Antioch Blues festival (with Franki G), and the PH and Lafayette Art & Wine festivals where we performed several times. The Dogs have been sponsored by the former "Red House" music/instruction venue in Walnut Creek, the Concord Guitar Center (RoundUp saloon jam night opening/ Walnut festival) and several major bay area companies. I formed my first rock band at age 13, and I played my first professional jazz gig at age 16 for a seniors dance ! Over the years I have performed at Disneyland, the Concord Pavillion, Great American Music Hall, and many major bay area clubs/venues, big festivals, parties, weddings, wineries, special events and studio sessions. My Delta Dogs band and I conducted the super popular jam night in Lafayette at the "RoundUp saloon" for six years and the jam night at "Ferry street station" in Martinez for two years. I also conduct music and percussion thearpy (PTSD) seminars at the Martinez VA and for special education organizations locally (for over 15 years). I recently taught drums and percussion to private students and as a behavioral trainer for the CCC Office of Education. I am listed on the web site "ContraCostaLive.com" as an influential county musician (last 2021 nominee). Music is a "universal Lanquage" that heals and integrates the mind/body/ and spirit. It is a Gift from above that I feel blessed to share with everyone I meet ! I hope to help transform lives through teaching students the benefits of playing/studying music and drumming !
